He was 23 years old, the youngest of all the settlers, and she was 18 years old, with a daughter in her arms, a situation that had been accepted and rejected by her family (+ wealthy and well-to-do), leads him to fight for life and the search for independence and, imbued with an unshakable state of mind and struggle, he applies for the only agricultural couple still available, the last settler to enter  the  village  where , strange  as  it  may  seem , most of the others came from  Entre Douro and Minho , and without any agro-livestock experience. It should be noted that the residents of the neighboring villages were distant from competing for these Couples, most likely from skepticism and from not believing in such a strange and unusual project.

With abundant rural experience acquired in childhood and youth, where even the minimum school education was not provided, there was no difficulty in integration, always standing out among others in vision, planning, use and productivity, without neglecting its a critical stance on the theories and guidelines issued by technical staff assigned to the Technical Assistance Center, which supervised all activities. At the same time, for reasons of affectivity, he did not neglect his native village, where in addition to the preservation of the rural heritage, he got involved in the construction of a house, with a view to returning there, but the misfortune knocked on his door, and on a Sunday of summer, without anything to be expected, a huge visible light in Criande, was destroying with all the flames, stone on stone, the beautiful new house that had just been built.

The marks of this great misfortune, associated with the natural development of the three children who enriched their homes, and whom he devoted all his affection and attention to, and spared no effort to go far in his studies, compelled him to definitely fix his head and feet in the village of criande, then already quite mechanized, productive, and markedly developed in relation to the other villages of the county.

The strategic and harmonious setting of the place, adorned with the paradisiacal dam and surrounding waterfront, and the natural and inevitable tourist attraction fostered by luxury activities (hunting, fishing, gastronomy, river beach, motorboat, environment, etc.).

And he was embracing this project that João and Cila, deceased at 76 and 69, lived the rest of their lives in the village of Criande.
And they are now their children who aim to honor them, embracing this rural tourism project, bringing dynamism to their home and perpetuating a love story.
